A New Free Knitting Pattern!

A short sleeved women's pullover with puffed, short sleeves and diamond lace pattern.

I have returned to adding new knitting and craft content to the website here at Knitting-and.com.

Today, I have a new pattern for a classic 1940’s lacy jumper, or sweater called the Bracken-Fern Lace Summer Jumper.

I have taken the pattern from 1947, updated it into modern knitting terms, added a chart for the lace stitch and finally figured out how to make sure none of the ads print when you print it out (or to a pdf if you have that capability)..

We’re Back for Another 30 Years, and with a Patreon!

April 27, 2026 Technical Stuff

April 2026 marks the 30th anniversary of Knitting-and.com, and almost 25 years since I bought the domain name so I thought it was time to do a bit of tidying up.

Among other things, I’ve done the following to tidy up the website:

Fixed any broken links.
Removed things that no-one looked at.
Removed the recipes because they’re all on my other website already.
Tidied up the flower loom tutorials to make them easier to sort through.
Removed the menu from the left hand side of the pages (now it’s only on the blog, where it makes sense)
Fixed the problem that was causing some ads to print when you printed a pattern.
Added some extra information to the instructions for making a Teneriffe lace pillow, to make them nice and firm.
Given the previously hand drawn charts for the Skull and Crossbones Lace knitting pattern a glow up with Stitch Mastery software. No affiliation, I’m just really enjoying learning how to use it, and love the quality of the charts it produces.

I hope you find everything much easier to find, and have a lot more fun looking around!

We’ve changed a lot over the years, and I hope we have many more to come.

Long Time, No Post!

Hello! It’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted, but I finally have something new to show you!

Over the past couple of years I’ve been gathering up all of my embroidery and teneriffe lace samplers, samples and any bits and pieces I like and making them all into fabric books so I can look at them without risking damage.

I’ve made seven so far, and made a flip-through video of them all to share with you! I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed making them!
