How to Use This App
1. Swatch & Measure Gauge
Knit a stocking stitch swatch at least 6″ (15cm) square. Wash and block it, then count the stitches and rows in a 4″ (10cm) section and enter them. Include half and quarter stitches. (One quarter = .25, half = .5, three quarters = .75)
2. Enter Yarn & Needles
Enter your yarn details and select the needle size you used to knit your swatch. The pattern will automatically suggest a needle size two sizes smaller for the ribbed cuffs.
3. Take Measurements
Select whether you would like your pattern written in cm or inches and measure the recipient’s hand:
- Hand Circumference: Around the palm knuckles, excluding the thumb.
- Thumb Circumference: Around the widest part of the thumb.
- Crease to Index Finger: From the base of the thumb to the base of the index finger.
4. Interactive Colour Charts
Tick the chart box to generate a custom grid to colour. The grid will show all of the stocking stitch sections of your pattern, including the thumb gusset. You can colour the chart online, or print the blank chart with your pattern and colour it later.
5. Generate Your Pattern
Click Make My Pattern to get your personalized pattern, then print it or save it as a PDF.
