Materials
- Seven skeins (1oz each) of Lincoln Mills Daphne crochet wool (the original garment was knitted in shade No. 234, deep-sea blue). Note: This is a light fingering weight wool. Use any yarn that knits to gauge.
- Old UK No. 12 and No. 9 knitting needles (US 2 and 5; or metric 2.75 and 3.75mm)
- A medium size steel crochet hook.
- Four buttons.
Measurements
To fit a 34″ / 86.5cm bust; length from shoulder, 18 1/2″ / 47cm; sleeve seam, 6″ / 15.25cm.
Tension
When pressed 15 stitches (in lace pattern) equals 2 1/2″ / 6.4cm, and 20 rows (lace pattern) 2 1/4″ / 5.7cm

Pattern
The Back
Using the smaller needles, cast on 90 sts and work in rib of k1, p1 for 3 1/2″ or 8.7cm. On the last row of the ribbing, inc 1 st in every 6th st until you have 105 sts
Change to larger needles and start the lace pattern as follows:
Row 1 (RS): K1, *k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k5, (p1, k1) 3 times, p1; repeat from * 3 times, k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k6.
Rows 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10: K1, [p15, k7] 3 times, p15, k1.

These 20 rows (without increases) complete one pattern.

Continue in pattern, increasing at the beginning and end of row 22, and every 10th row following until there are 119 sts (80 rows).
Armhole Shaping
Keeping the lace pattern correct, cast off 8 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec at beg and end of every row until there are 91 sts.
Con without further decreasing, until you have completed 38 rows in the armhole.
Row 39: Pattern 45 sts, cast on 4 sts. Leave rem 46 sts on spare needle.
Row 40: K3, p8, k7, p15, k7, p8, k1.
Con in pat, working the 3 sts at centre edge in garter st, until you have completed 62 rows in the armhole.
Rows 63, 65 and 67: Keeping pattern correct, cast off 10 sts and work to end of row.
Rows 64, 66 and 68: Work in pattern.
Cast off rem sts.
Join wool to centre of work.
Cast on 1 st and work this side in pattern, omitting the garter-st edge and working the cast-on st as the centre k st of the lace pattern.
The Front
Work as for back, up to the 38th row in armhole.
Row 39: Pattern 38 sts, cast off 15 sts, pattern rem 38 sts.
Working on the last 38 sts, dec at neck edge on every row until there are 30 sts, then continue without further decreasing, until you have worked 62 rows in the armhole.
Shape Shoulder as for back.
Join wool to rem 38 sts and work to correspond.
The Sleeves
Using smaller needles, cast on 72 sts.
Work in rib of k1, p1 for 12 rows, increasing 1 st in every 6th st until you have 83 sts in the last row.
Change to larger needles and commence pat as follows:
Row 1: K1, * k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k5, (p1, k1) x 3, p1; rep from * twice, k5, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, ssk, k6.
Con in pat, inc at beg and end of every 6th row until there are 97 sts (44 rows).
Armhole Shaping
Cast off 8 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec at beg and end of next and every 4th row until there are 61 sts, then every 2nd row until there are 49 sts (51 rows).
Row 52: K1, (k2tog) twice, k1, p15, k7, p15, k1, (k2tog) twice, k1.
Row 53: K1, k2tog, p1, k2tog, k1, (k2tog, yo) twice, k1, (yo, ssk) twice, k3, (p1, k1) x 3, p1, k3, (k2tog, yo) twice, k 1, (yo, ssk) twice, k 1, k2tog, p1, k2tog, k1.

The Collar
Join shoulder seams.
Using smaller needles and with wrong side of work facing you, commence at 3rd st from edge of right-hand side at back and k up 55 sts to centre front st.
Row 1: K, increasing in every 3rd st until you have 73 sts.
Row 2: K1, (k1, p1) x 3, * k 5, k2tog, yo, k 1, yo, ssk, k 5, (p1, k 1) x 3, P 1; rep from * to last st, k 1.
Row 3: K7, *p 15, k7; repeat from * to end of row.
Con in pat for 23 rows, ending on 2nd row of 2nd pat.
Rows 24 and 26: K1, *k1, p1; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Row 23 and 27: K.
Cast off.
Commencing at centre-front st, k up 55 sts to last st at left-hand side of neck and work to correspond with collar already worked.
Making Up
Work 3 rows of double crochet along left side of back opening, making 4 loop buttonholes in the 2nd row thus; One double crochet, * 4 chain (miss 3 double crochet), 4 double crochet. Rep from *
Press with a warm iron under a damp cloth. Sew together with flat seams, easing sleeves to fit armholes. Sew buttons in position and attach under-lap to inside of jumper.
