Heading Option 1
Since the original 1891 version of this pattern merely says “cast on 10sts and knit an edge like the bottom of the collar” for the header, I have given three different patterns. Each one matches a different section of the main part of the collar.

Bottom of the Collar
Cast on 44 stitches and knit one row. Commence from row 1 of the chart.
Rows 2 to 15 form the pattern. Repeat these rows for the desired length, ending with row 14.
Heading Option 1
Since the original 1891 version of this pattern merely says “cast on 10sts and knit an edge like the bottom of the collar” for the header, I have given three different patterns. Each one matches a different section of the main part of the collar. Option three has not been charted as it is so simple. Please see above for option 3.
Cast on 10 sts. Commence from row 3 of the chart (I will be removing rows 1 and 2 completely as they are unnecessary)
Rows 3 -14 form the pattern. Repeat for the desired length.
Heading Option 2
Cast on 10 sts. Commence from row 1 of the chart.
Rows 1 -14 form the pattern. Repeat for the desired length.
Making Up
Stitch the bottom of the lace to the header, pleating the bottom to fit if necessary.
