[edit] Vintage pamphlets
Hi Sarah, I just scanned two knitting/crochet pamphlets from 1941 and the 1950s. I was thinking about adding the patterns to the KnitWiki but wanted to double check with you. I will only add the knitting patterns (most are children/baby items, but there are a couple of "bed jackets" for the new mother that are cute enough for modern sweaters). Here are the scans if you would like to preview them: Beehive for Bairns and Juvenile Styles Is there anything in particular I need to know to do this? or if you would rather I didn't add them, that is fine too. - Got your reply... super! One page per pattern and to save space, I'll add only the images of the items with a text pattern and a link back to the complete book. There are a couple of charts that may benefit from your charting software as well =) ... Oh, and what about the patterns that are a set (as with the baby layettes)? should each part of the set get its own page? or should they all go together on one? Thistlechick 05:41, 8 May 2008 (PDT)
- sets should definitely go together as one.
If you're putting the patterns in separately there's no need to add the entire books as well. If you want to link them make a category like we did for Category:Exercises in Knitting. Sets of patterns like layettes should definitely stay grouped together. Sarah Bradberry 14:32, 8 May 2008 (PDT)
[edit] Thanks :)
Thanks much for the warm welcome, and for the links to the hat patterns! I'll be knitting a twisty pixie hat soon, I might add the pattern to the wiki, though I'm not sure on actually writing patterns - I might have to just describe it in great detail and trust someone else to translate... :) Lottiotta 02:59, 14 April 2008 (PDT)
[edit] Upgrade?
Will you be able to update the MW software any time soon? I'm asking because it would be nice to have parser functions for templates, assuming I were interested in building an address/info template for Yarn Shops USA. - User:Amgine / t 15:04, 1 February 2008 (PST)
- Great! no hurries, just something to tool with eventually. - Amgine / t 17:43, 1 February 2008 (PST)
[edit] Ravelry Group?
Do we have a KnitWiki group on Ravelry yet? If not, let's get one started! Thistlechick 06:38, 5 May 2008 (PDT)
Do you really think it's necessary? I changed the yahoo group to an announcement list because no-one ever said anything Sarah Bradberry 12:08, 5 May 2008 (PDT)
- No, not necessary... just fun and advertisement =) Thistlechick 16:24, 7 May 2008 (PDT)
- Hmmm, advertisement. God point. Sarah Bradberry 16:32, 7 May 2008 (PDT)
