Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, also known as the yarn harlot, is a Canadian knitter/writer/blogger who is known for her sharp witticism in her many anecdotal stories of failed knitting. She brings humor to the craft through her writing and has contributed to Cast-On, Spin Off, Interweave Knits and Knitty.com . Her next book, Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off, is to be released March 21, 2007, for which she is organizing a book tour launch at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She has formed Knitters Without Borders/Tricoteuses Sans Frontières, a group of knitters who raise money for the non-profit organization Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders. Additionally, she founded the 2006 Knitting Olympics, where knitters were to complete a project between opening and closing ceremonies.
