The Official KnitWiki Yarn Review Format
It's OK if you can't fill in all the details requested below. Another editor can always add more information at a later date.
Yarn reviews should be entered in the following format:
Yarn Name
Please write the yarn name out in full in the title. For example "==Cleckheaton Country 8 ply=="
Photos
Photo of a swatch or detail of a garment made with the yarn (if you have one). It's ok if you don't have a photo as another editor can always add one later.
Manufacturer's Info
- Gauge
- Weight
- Wraps per inch (if you know how to measure it).
- Fibre Content
- Care Instructions (washing, drying, ironing)
- Yardage (in yards and metres if your yarn band has it listed)
Reviews
Your opinions of the yarn, good and bad. Include photos if you wish to. For example, if a yarn works really well with cabled patterns then a photo of a swatch will show readers exactly how nice it looks!
Tell us what you made with the yarn and how much wear and tear it had to withstand. For example: I knit a teddy bear that was handled on a regular basis.
If a yarn doesn't live up to your expectations tell us under what conditions it failed. Did you make mittens that were worn every day at underwent a lot of wear and tear which had holes worn in them after the first wearing, or did you knit a hat that was treated very carefully yet it stilled pilled?
You may also include a couple of quotes from other people who have used the yarn. Please make sure to state what your source is. If linking to a person's blog please link to the archived file for the specific post the yarn was mentioned in. For example: Sarah from the Mostly Knitting Blog felted this wool before knitting because it pilled very badly.
Please follow your review with four tildes like this: "~~~~". This will automatically leave your name and the date after the review like so: Sarah Bradberry 22:53, 20 February 2007 (PST)
Never delete someone else's review. If you have another review to add please add it above the previous reviews. The most recent review should always be at the top of the review section.
