To fit head circumference 50 – 55cm

Yarn: 120m of black 8 ply wool for ribbing and fairisle patterning, 100m of variegated 8ply wool for the background.

I used 60gm of Jo Sharp Classic DK 8 ply wool in colour black for the ribbing and fairisle patterning, and 50gm natural for the background, which I dyed in rainbow colours as shown in the photo below using the cold padding method.

Colorwork knitting chart

Cut background colour and change to 3.75mm needles.

Continuing in black only, knit 1 round

Eyelet round: *yo, k2tog, p2**; repeat from * to ** until you reach the end of the round.

Continue in k2, p2 rib for a further 3cm.

Finishing

Wash and block your hat.

Using 1 x 90cm strand of each colour, make a twisted cord, approximately 30cm long. Thread the cord through the eyelets, pull tight and tie in a bow.
